A Legacy of Dance
The original School of Ballet was located at 336 North G street in Lompoc.
This building was the home of the Sue Dalton School of Ballet from 1967 until 2003.
In 2003, construction began on the new studio location at 124 South J Street. The new location opened in January of 2004 and the name was changed to the Classical School of Ballet.
We now call 1313 N. H Street, Ste A our home

Our Story
We are celebrating our studio's 58th year!
Our school began in 1967 when Sue Dalton first opened the doors of the School of Ballet--a small white building on North G Street in Lompoc, CA. Later, she renamed it the Sue Dalton School of Ballet, inspiring dancers for years to come. In 1995, her dance student of seventeen years, Angela Mill, became the Owner/Director of the school. Under Miss Angela's direction, the school added a jazz and tap program in September 2003. The following year, the school was renamed Classical School of Ballet and relocated to its new state-of-the-art facility, built by Mason Mill, on South J Street, where it remained until 2019. The studio is currently located at 1313 North H Street, Ste. A.
Over the years, Classical School of Ballet students have experienced the reward of their dedication through a variety of performance, competition and extended training opportunities, including biennial studio show Dancefest, The Nutcracker, Santa Barbara Ballet Competition, and other prestigious summer programs. CSB dancers have had the honor of First Place and Honorable Mentions at said competitions. After passing a rigorous audition process, some furthered their training through summer programs offered at the San Francisco Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Kirov Academy, Contra Costa Ballet Center, Houston Ballet, and State Street Ballet. Others participated in local productions of The Nutcracker ballet presented by Allan Hancock College. Many CSB alums, continue dancing at university, participating in their colleges' dance productions.
Classical School of Ballet has also supported charitable causes through dance, including creating a holiday production to benefit Toys for Tots, as well as performing for the local Boys and Girls Club, Convalescent Care Center, and Lompoc Lodge Elderly Care Facility. CSB also performed at Huyck's Stadium on the the 4th of July, danced in a benefit at the Ethel Pope Auditorium, and as guest artists at an Allan Hancock College show in which one of the dances was dedicated to Sue Dalton.

Miss Angela also taught the Creative Dance program in many Lompoc schools, Buellton, Solvang, Santa Maria, and Santa Ynez through Arts Outreach and Children's Creative Project. It was her pleasure to support students through dance as movement education. This also provided a way to share the joy of dance with children when their families were unable to cover the cost of lessons at a studio.
We are proud of our students who have trained with us and gone on to pursue careers as dancers, choreographers, teachers, and studio owners. We wish them the very best!
